Desk Read Hurt: where your long or short gets taken out

Updated 2026-10-19

What Hurt answers

Hurt is the Desk Read line for your own position. Given a side (long or short), an entry price, and leverage, it estimates where the exchange takes you out and whether a sized wall sits on the path before that level.

Without an entry and leverage, Hurt stays empty on purpose. The block at the top of coin guides still shows Pull, Cascade, and Crowd for the market. Inside the product you add side, entry, and leverage to score your setup.

How to read a Hurt line

A typical Hurt line names three things: your assumed leverage and entry, the estimated liquidation price, and whether a sized wall sits before that invalidation.

  • If a wall sits before your liquidation price, that wall is the first stress point on the path.
  • If no sized wall sits before liquidation, the path to being taken out is open relative to the mapped clusters.
  • Distance is shown as a percent from entry so you can compare it to your risk budget.

Example shape only (live numbers come from the API, never from this paragraph): a 10x long from an entry is taken out at a lower price; the line then says whether a wall sits before that level.

Why Hurt sits beside Pull and Plan

Pull tells you which side of the market is heavier near price. Hurt tells you where you break. Plan turns those walls into a stop beyond the losing-side wall and a first target at the opposing wall when the data supports it.

Together they answer the trader question: if I take this leverage here, what invalidates me, and what structure am I leaning on?

Limits

Hurt uses standard perpetual liquidation geometry plus the same public liquidation map used elsewhere on Hunter Killer. Venue margin modes, fees, and funding can move a real liquidation price. Treat the line as research context, not a broker guarantee.

Every level we publish is scored in public, misses included. Check the live grade on /proof before you lean on any number. Until a published-levels bucket is marked sellable, we quote no hit rate at all.

Frequently asked questions

What is Desk Read Hurt?

Hurt estimates where your long or short is liquidated at your entry and leverage, and whether a sized liquidation wall sits on the way. It is position risk context, not a buy or sell signal.

Why is Hurt empty on some Desk Reads?

Hurt needs side, entry, and leverage. Market-only Desk Reads still show Pull, Cascade, and Crowd. Add your inputs in the product to unlock Hurt and Plan.

Is the liquidation price exact?

It is an estimate from standard futures math and the mapped walls. Your venue may differ with isolated versus cross margin, fees, and funding. Verify on your exchange before you size.

How does Hurt relate to a stop loss?

Hurt shows where the exchange forces you out. A stop is your chosen exit before that. Plan suggests placing a stop beyond the losing-side wall when the walls support a plan.

Can agents request Hurt?

Yes. The MCP and SDKs expose desk_read with optional side, entry, and leverage. Start at /agents. A free API key ships with free signup.

Put this into practice on the map

Choose your market, inspect nearby liquidation concentrations, then compare both sides of price. These are estimates, not targets.
