Position Size Calculator

Decide how big a trade can be before a normal losing streak actually hurts. Size from your stop, then check that leverage has not placed liquidation in front of it.

Your position size

Size from the stop, never from the leverage. This is the single habit that separates accounts that survive from accounts that do not.

Position size
.
Notional value.
Risked if stopped.
Stop distance.

Leverage then only decides the margin you post, never how much you can lose. The danger of high leverage is that it places liquidation BEFORE your stop, so the exchange closes the trade for you at a price you never chose.

Sizing is half the answer. The other half is where everyone else is.

Correct size keeps a loss survivable. Knowing that your stop sits inside a cluster where thousands of other traders get force-closed tells you why price reached it. The Money Map shows those clusters in real dollars, right now.

Check your liquidation price

Isolated margin, the way perpetual futures exchanges actually compute it. Nothing is sent anywhere. This runs entirely in your browser.

Liquidation price
.
Move to liquidation.
Buffer from entry.
Risk level.

Maintenance margin varies by exchange and by position size tier. 0.5% is a common starting tier for major pairs. Check your exchange's own tier table for the exact figure. This excludes fees and funding, which move a real liquidation slightly closer.

Questions traders actually ask

How do I calculate position size?

Risk amount = account x risk per trade. Position size = risk amount divided by the distance from entry to stop. A $10,000 account risking 1% with a $1,200 stop distance gets 0.0833 units, which is $5,000 notional risking exactly $100.

How much should I risk per trade?

Most professional risk frameworks land between 0.5% and 2% of the account per trade. The longer your expected losing streak, the smaller that number has to be for the account to survive it.

Does leverage change my risk per trade?

No. Stop distance and position size decide what you lose. Leverage decides the margin you post and how close liquidation sits. The real danger is leverage placing liquidation before your stop, so you never get the exit you planned.
